Ivan’s Site of the Week

This week’s winner is cynic’s heaven in the form of the Uncyclopedia - “the content-free encyclopedia that anyone can edit”. Another outlet for our perverted creativity, as if one were needed, courtesy of our friend and occasional commenter rodw.

Want to know who founded Canberra? Or how best to fake Churchill quotes? Or even how to survive a robot uprising? Then this is the site for you.

Curiously, there are exactly 2222 entries on George W Bush here, and only one of them gets past the first sentence without using the words “wanker”, “moron”, “cretin”, or “pet rock”. Staid Wikipedia, on the other hand, tells us that
“…he is sometimes referred to by the nickname Dubya. The nickname is often used in an admiring way by his supporters and in a derogatory way by his opponents.”

I know which one I’ll be bookmarking…

The Uncyclopedia, yesterday. Come and bathe in its warming, healing, nourishing glow.

On the topic of the First Magistrate of the Republic, Uncyclopedia veers remarkably close to becoming contentful, while Wikipedia flirts incomprehensibly with epistemic relativism, the nagging disease of '90s liberals.

So let me guess, Ivan: you bookmarked the former? :-)

"It has been said that democracy is the worst way of throwing an anniversary bash for your wife."

--Churchill

If he didn't say it, he should have.

Cheers.

Sorry, Des - it was a secret ballot :)

Too abstract for Churchill, Randall. Derrida would've been all over that one, tho'...

A word of congratulations, Ivan, on the funny comment you posted about the girls eventually being too stupid to dress themselves.
It's not often we're surprised by something fresh like that.

May I suggest this site for next week's instalment.

In light of this, I thought you'd bring back the pot-bellied pig pages.

Cheers

Thank you, Sol. One tries to stay topical, but a little misogyny never goes out of fashion. Or so my divorce lawyer tells me.

Sorry, Des. Some things are beyond satire. All one can say of that site is res ipse loquitur...

Good one, Randall! Miss O'Reilly said yesterday: 'I am well aware of the controversy this performance will create.'

Translation: "Ka-CHING!"

Sweet honey-baked ham! That woman...that pig!

It doesn't have to be this way, you know. There are medicines and prison hospitals and sharp, sharp needles for this sort of thing nowadays.

At least she managed to avoid the Madonna/Sinead O'Conner route and keep crucifixes out of the whole thing - I'm sure Ireland wouldn't stand for that... wait...Ah! I'm begining to see your point, Uncle Vanya. Ka-ching indeed.

These artists never seem to want to pickle or kill themselves and be put on public display - just other animals and skinned people. It's a pity - I'm sure that would be a real crowd-pleaser.

The expression is 'hung, drawn and quartered', freaky. Sorry to be anally retentive about this.

Fortunately, advancing age will take care of your anus' retentive tendencies, Footie...

I blame Damien. He started the rot. I know art aint all paint but this is ridiculous!

Quite right, Pi. She might at least paint with the dead pig. Just sitting there hugging it strikes me as lazy, quite frankly.
